I completed the Google IT Support certification course on Coursera. I feel a bit of impostor syndrome, but I also believe that I know more than I think I know. That’s been the journey so far – I feel like I’m tapping into something that’s always been there. Keeps me motivated on the path to be in the cyber or info security world. Without further ado…

What really got my attention is that while I struggled with networking, something I’ll have to work on (thanks TryHackMe), but the IT security quiz answers were coming more naturally to me, or at least easier for me to figure out. That gives me a lot of hope as well.
I started to take a little pause from online education to work on a project for my current job, but I couldn’t help myself and started on the Google Cybersecurity certificate program. I am fully aware that these don’t apply directly to CompTIA certifications, but that’s not what I’m doing right now. What I’m looking for is exactly what Google and Coursera are offering. I’m going to get the magnifying glass a little closer, learn a few technical things like some SQL and automating tasks with Python, and get a better idea of not only what kind of cyber (or information) professional I want to be, but more importantly what I have the talent/capability for given my career switch.
Hopefully I’ll have some projects to share while in the Google cybersecurity program.
